Goldman Ismail Helps Edwards Lifesciences Secure Summary Judgment in Patent Infringement Case

On March 13, 2026, the U.S. District Court for the District of Delaware granted Edwards Lifesciences Corporation’s motion for summary judgment in full in a multi-patent infringement lawsuit involving one of its flagship products, a transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR) device.

Plaintiff Aortic Innovations, represented by McKool Smith, claimed Edwards’ TAVR device infringed numerous claims across four patents. Just over a week before trial was set to begin, Judge Maryellen Noreika granted summary judgment of invalidity on every patent claim asserted by Aortic.

The Goldman Ismail team—Alan Littmann, Doug Winnard, Michael Pieja, Xavi Giroud, Katherine Kieckhafer, Madeline Thompson, and Oren Kriegel—partnered with Knobbe Martens to achieve this very positive result for our client.
