A new model
With a national practice focused exclusively on litigation, Goldman Ismail is a firm of experienced trial lawyers with a proven track record of success in high-stakes litigation. Overcoming the many strategic challenges that arise in complex cases requires lawyers who have been there before. That’s why clients turn to us.
After successful careers as partners at Bartlit Beck and Fulbright & Jaworski, we founded Goldman Ismail because we believed we could achieve better results for our clients by combining our talents in one firm. Ours is a rare chemistry, and our ability to collaborate as a team is a key ingredient in our clients’ success.
Goldman Ismail specializes in large-scale cases: major products liability, mass tort, intellectual property, antitrust, and other high-stakes commercial litigation for large US and multinational companies. We are well known for our command of complex scientific and technical issues (three of our attorneys are also MDs), and we are consistently called on to try cases involving these difficult issues across the country before judges, juries, and arbitrators.
Unlike most firms, we use a results-based compensation system that promotes efficiency, provides predictability of litigation costs, and directly aligns our incentives with those of our clients.
Our clients include some of the world’s preeminent Fortune Global 500 corporations. Our efforts on their behalf have earned accolades from The American Lawyer, Chambers & Partners, The Legal 500, and other national publications.
A focus on diversity
Every decision we make at Goldman Ismail is guided by our dedication to building a diverse firm. Most of our attorneys and staff are diverse, making our firm a leader among peer firms in diversity and inclusion.
We proactively recruit diverse attorneys, including by participating in minority job fairs and hosting a diversity-focused summer associate program. We also consciously create a culture of inclusion where diverse attorneys and staff thrive once on board. We are active members of the Leadership Counsel on Leadership Diversity (LCLD). LCLD is an organization of more than 400 corporate chief legal officers and law firm managing partners who have pledged themselves to creating a diverse U.S. legal profession. See our pledge here. We are also active members of the Law Firm Antiracism Alliance. And we organize an Anti-Racism Book Club for attorneys and staff in which we read books by diverse authors and meet to discuss them.
We believe that a diverse team is a better team that achieves the best results for our clients.
A focus on well-being
Goldman Ismail has signed The American Bar Association’s Well-Being Pledge and each year fulfills the commitments that go along with it. We provide yearly firm-wide trainings on well-being and work-life balance that provide helpful information and resources. We’ve also implemented a monthly challenge for employees focused on different wellness principles. In addition, we are committed to helping employees recover from illnesses, including illnesses related to mental health. Our robust medical plan covers mental health, behavioral health, and substance abuse services for employees and other covered individuals.
“Opposing counsel described litigating against Goldman Ismail ‘like a trip to the dentist,’ calling the lawyers “very professional, very thorough, and they use all the tools in the toolbox.”
