Goldman Ismail Helps Bayer and Monsanto Company and Nouryon Surface Chemistry LLC Secure a Defense Victory in Roundup Trial

On November 15, 2024, a jury returned a full defense verdict in the Womack trial in Philadelphia. This was the “third trial victory in the Philadelphia Court of Common Pleas,” a Monsanto spokesperson said, and “is consistent with the overwhelming weight of scientific evidence and the consensus of regulatory bodies and their scientific assessments worldwide supporting the safety of glyphosate-based herbicides.” A Goldman Ismail team (Shayna Cook, Bridget Wholey, and Kurt Holtzman) partnered with Kim Bueno from King & Spalding and Richard Harris from Holland & Knight, along with appellate counsel Randy Soriano from Bryan Cave and local counsel Chanda Harris from Barnes & Thornburg, to secure Monsanto’s victory in court. The Court dismissed Nouryon on nonsuit shortly before closing argument. Congratulations to Bayer, Monsanto, Nouryon, and the team. Press coverage is available here and here.
