Goldman Ismail Furthers Partnership with Law Firm Antiracism Alliance (LFAA)

Goldman Ismail Tomaselli Brennan & Baum LLP is pleased to announce the release of a report by the Reproductive Justice Working Group of the Law Firm Antiracism Alliance (LFAA) entitled “Abortion & Race: Why Abortion Bans and Restrictions Disproportionately Affect Black Women and People of Color.” Working alongside senior counsel at several other law firms and a number of dedicated LFAA volunteers, Goldman Ismail partner Emma Ross, who has co-chaired the Working Group since its inception, helped design, plan, and develop the project. As a resource for advocates, activists, and scholars, the Report aims to raise awareness of racial inequity in reproductive healthcare and to explore state laws that ban or severely restrict abortion in the context of reproductive justice and structural racism.

The 366-page document was disseminated to If/When/How, the Center for Reproductive Rights, and other leading organizations that work collaboratively to promote reproductive justice and reproductive rights. Goldman Ismail team member, Maddie Lyons, also participated in the effort. The full report can be viewed here.

Goldman Ismail has partnered with the LFAA since the organization’s inception in 2020. LFAA aims to better harness the resources of the private bar in the effort to end systemic racism by leveraging resources, fostering advocacy, and amplifying the voices of those oppressed by systemic racism. Through large-scale, coordinated pro bono projects like this one, the group’s efforts aim to use the law as a vehicle for the change needed to promote racial equity.
