Shaun litigates complex cases often involving a range of scientific and technical issues. He has handled patent-infringement, trade-secret, and commercial matters in jurisdictions throughout the United States. Those matters have involved a variety of technologies, including mobile devices, optical systems, computer vision, cloud computing, networks, broadcast graphics, touchscreens, AI, payment systems, lidar, radar, semiconductors, chemical products, and medical devices.

Outside of his legal practice, Shaun is a committed community leader. He has been recognized in Georgia Tech’s 40 Under 40 and as a 35 Under 35 Leader Making an Impact by the Chicago Scholars Foundation. He is also committed to advancing diversity and a more inclusive legal profession, and he serves as the firm’s Leadership Council on Legal Diversity Fellow for 2023.

Shaun came to the firm after serving as in-house counsel for a former Fortune 10 technology company, which gave him a well-rounded perspective on intellectual-property strategy. Shaun graduated summa cum laude from Georgia Tech with a degree in materials science and engineering. He earned his law degree from Georgetown Law, where he served as president of the student body.

  • Camera Optics Litigation

    Representing a Fortune 10 technology company in a case involving breach of contract, patent, and trade secret claims relating to the design of wide-angle camera lenses and related software. The Goldman Ismail team secured an early win on a motion to dismiss certain claims, and have since obtained a stipulation of dismissal of all contract and trade secret claims with prejudice. The remaining patent-infringement claim is pending in the District of Delaware and is at the claim construction phase.

    Sportvision, Inc. v. MLB Advanced Media, L.P.

    Represents MLB Advanced Media in a patent, trade-secret, and contract matter relating to the display of video graphics.

    AML IP, LLC v. Stripe, Inc.

    Defending Stripe in a patent-infringement case involving automated payment technology. This case is pending in the Western District of Texas and is in the early stages of discovery.

    Strategic IP Counseling

    Advises leading technology companies on patent strategy and preparedness, including analysis for litigation, licensing, patent acquisitions, and negotiations.

    InnoBrilliance, LLC v. MLB Advanced Media, L.P. /fuboTV, Inc.

    Represented MLB Advanced Media and fuboTV in a patent-infringement action involving video streaming technology brought by non-practicing entity InnoBrilliance, LLC. Obtained a stipulation of dismissal of all claims.

    Consumer Electronics Litigation

    Represented a Fortune 10 consumer-electronics company in several patent-infringement cases brought by Uniloc USA, a prolific non-practicing entity, relating to telecommunications, user-interface, computer-security, and battery technologies. The Goldman Ismail team secured dismissal of multiple Uniloc cases based on constitutional standing grounds, derailing Uniloc’s nationwide campaign against numerous defendants.

    Digital Mapping Litigation

    Represented a Fortune 10 company in a patent-infringement dispute relating to digital-mapping technologies. The matter resolved immediately after the Court issued its Markman order that provided the client with several new non-infringement arguments.

    Smartphone Litigation

    Represented a Fortune 10 company in an patent-infringement action brought by non-practicing entity Mesa Digital, LLC. Obtained a stipulation of dismissal of all claims with prejudice.

    PFAS Environmental Litigation

    Represented chemical manufacturer in thousands of environmental and products liability claims in state and federal courts nationwide brought by individuals, municipalities, and states alleging groundwater contamination and personal injury as individual claims, consolidated proceedings, and class actions.

    Touch Screen Litigation

    Represented a market-leading technology and industrial company in a patent infringement suit concerning touch-screen technology.

    Medical Waste Management Litigation

    Represented a market-leading medical device manufacturer in a patent infringement suit concerning medical waste management technology.

    Endoscopic Imaging Litigation

    Defended a market-leading medical device manufacturer in a patent infringement suit concerning endoscopic imaging technology.
