Logan is a brief-writing specialist and writing coach for the firm. Logan comes from a family of teachers, and she brings to her role a deep interest in demystifying the writing process, an empathetic approach to mentorship, and over fifteen years of legal-writing experience. Outside of her legal work, Logan is an award-winning and bestselling novelist; HarperCollins released her debut novel in 2023.
Logan’s mission is to foster a growth mindset around writing and a firmwide culture of writing excellence. She works with associates to strengthen their writing through one-on-one coaching sessions and group trainings. She also provides detailed edits with practical takeaways to improve future briefs. And she develops tools and materials that help associates refine their own drafting and editing processes. Beyond her work on briefs, Logan leads firmwide trainings on best practices for drafting emails and other professional communications.
Before joining Goldman Ismail, Logan built her legal-writing expertise through years of public service and private practice. She served for three years as an Assistant United States Attorney in the District of Colorado, where she co-chaired trials and briefed a variety of issues in civil litigation against federal agencies and employees. She spent six years at another leading law firm, where she specialized in brief writing and edited chapters of the Supreme Court Practice and Federal Appellate Practice treatises. Logan also clerked for three judges, one in the Seventh Circuit and two in the Northern District of Illinois. Logan graduated cum laude from Harvard Law School, where she won the Ames Moot Court Competition and served on the Harvard Legal Aid Bureau. She graduated summa cum laude from Pomona College.
