Ethan litigates complex cases involving a range of scientific and technical issues. He has handled matters involving patent infringement, post-grant proceedings, trade-secret misappropriation cases, and licensing disputes. Ethan is also a talented IP strategist, advising businesses and investors on ways to leverage IP assets to maximize competitive advantage. These matters have involved a variety of technologies, including medical devices, network architecture, 4G/5G cellular networks, e-commerce, and consumer electronics.
Ethan’s experience extends across all stages of litigation, including managing discovery, working closely with experts to prepare inter partes review petitions and reports, taking depositions, and preparing witnesses for trial. Ethan has led briefing on successful dispositive motions. He has also argued before the US Patent Trial and Appeal Board.
Prior to joining Goldman Ismail, Ethan practiced with another leading national law firm. Ethan earned his B.S. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign and his J.D. cum laude from DePaul University College of Law. Before law school, Ethan worked as a Senior Patent Analyst at a patent brokerage firm where he performed IP landscaping and consulting projects on behalf of Fortune 500 companies.
